Regional lender Renasant Bank has lured a longtime Franklin Synergy Bank executive to be its mortgage production manager.

Stephen Lewis joins Renasant, which runs six area retail offices and has about 1 percent of the deposit market, with more than 27 years of mortgage experience. He had been at Franklin Synergy since the fall of 2008, a year after that bank opened its doors, and was most recently a senior vice president. He is a past president of the Nashville Mortgage Bankers Association and has been recognized several times as one of the region’s top producers.

Joining Lewis at Renasant is senior loan processor Bart Land, a member of his Franklin Synergy team who has more than 16 years of mortgage experience at Franklin Synergy and SunTrust.

“We are very fortunate to have Stephen join Renasant Mortgage,” David Mays, president of Renasant Bank Mortgage, said in a statement. “He brings valuable experience that will complement our existing team. I am very excited for what this means to Renasant Mortgage and the expansion of customers that we can immediately serve in the Nashville area.”

Renasant officials told the Post that adding Lewis and Land — who are based in the company’s Mallory Station Road mortgage office — grows their Nashville team to six producers who should generate about $120 million in loans this year. Across Middle Tennessee, the bank last year originated $236 million in mortgages.

Renasant has total assets of almost $13 billion and runs more than 190 offices of various types in Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and Georgia.
