Sales of Nissan vehicles in the U.S. fell by about 6.6 percent between 2017 and 2018, while global sales of Nissan vehicles fell by about 2.8 percent.

The company reported its full year sales results in early January. Despite the overall decrease in sales some models showed strong gains in the U.S.

Sales of the Rogue crossover—Nissan’s top-selling model—increased by about 2 percent. U.S. sales of trucks, SUVs and crossovers as a whole increased by about 3 percent.

The company also sold more than 14,000 electric LEAF vehicles in the U.S. While those numbers are far lower than other car models, it represents a 31 percent increase compared to 2017.

Infiniti, which is part of the Nissan group, fared better than the Nissan brand in the U.S. Sales fell by about 2.7 percent, but truck sales increased by 5.1 percent.

Both Nissan and Infiniti saw sales increase in the final month of 2018. Infiniti sales in December 2018 increased by more than 10 percent compared to the same month last year. In the same time frame, Nissan sales increased by about 7.2 percent.
