The medical device maker Medacta is moving its U.S. headquarters from Chicago to Franklin.
The company plans to invest $2.5 million and create more than 50 jobs in Franklin over the next five years, according to a press release from the Department of Economic and Community Development.
The new facility located on Carothers Parkway will house the U.S. headquarters and a research and development lab.
“The Greater Nashville area combines a deep talent pool in the health care and tech space with close proximity to some of the world’s best orthopedic researchers and practitioners at leading medical institutions,” Medacta USA general manager Matthew Goudy said, according to the release. “The quality of life for our team members, along with Nashville’s accessibility, made this an easy decision.”
Medacta designs and produces orthopedic products — such as devices for knee, shoulder and hip replacements — and surgical techniques required for those products.
