Local executive recruitment firm wants to tap into talent of some of the 550 veterans who leave military each day

Plumlee & Associates, a veteran-owned executive search and talent management firm, has launched its Military Leadership Division that will focus on transitioning former military personnel to successful civilian careers through recruitment, onboarding, and career development.

The new division will provide services such as one-on-one career counseling and workshops on topics such as improving business acumen, mock interviews, and job offer negotiation skills.

Approximately 550 veterans leave the military per day, according to a 2014 study issued by the Office of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. More than half of veterans struggle to find work in their desired fields after leaving the military because civilian employers want experienced and educated candidates — and often do not realize veterans qualify (Veterans Well-Being Survey, Edelman, July 2018).

Julianna Christensen, a combat veteran, has been hired as client services manager; she will lead the Military Leadership Division.

Christensen veteran, has five years of HR management experience as an Army Officer supporting hundreds of personnel for and during Afghanistan deployments. She earned a Bachelor of Science in International Law and Legal Studies in 2013 from the U.S Military Academy at West Point where she was a Division I swimmer and Army team captain.

“Having been a part of the Army community since I was 18, it is extremely rewarding to remain connected to the military community in a different and meaningful capacity,” Christensen said.

She continues to serve soldiers and their families as the Family Readiness Group leader in her husband’s unit. Capt. Chuck Christensen continues his honorable service in the 101 st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell as an Infantry Company Commander.

Plumlee & Associates will complete certification as a Veteran Owned Small Business (VOSB) in 2018.
