Franklin Financial hires first general counsel


Steve Groom has joined Franklin Financial Network as the company’s general counsel and executive vice president.

The general counsel role is new to the company, according to a release.

Prior to joining Franklin Financial, the parent company of Franklin Synergy Bank, Groom worked as an attorney at Nashville-based law firm Neal & Harwell. He has more than 40 years of experience as an attorney.

Previously, Groom served in executive and general counsel roles for Nashville-area entities such as law firm Butler Snow, prison management company CoreCivic and SunTrust Bank.

Groom holds a bachelor’s degree from Lipscomb University and a J.D. degree from the University of Memphis School of Law. He has also attended executive education programs at Harvard University, the Wharton School and the Kellogg School of Management
