The Dolphin Tennis Club is scheduled to open in June 2019 at the corner of Wilson Pike and Old Smyrna Road.
The owners of the property have already built an entrance on Old Smyrna Road and have started demolition of an old building. Grading and new construction will start in January.
“We’ll be breaking ground here probably right after the first of the year,” Brian Sullivan said, who has represented the owners of the property at public meetings.
The Nashville Tennis Academy will offer clinics on the existing courts in the spring. The club hopes to be open to the general public by June 1, 2019.
The Brentwood Planning Commission approved plans for the club on Wilson Pike in March. Sullivan previously said a group of tennis pros bought the property.
The property used to be a swimming and tennis club, but fell into disrepair after it was sold to a church in 2008. A 2014 plan to build an assisted living facility on the property did not get approval from the City Commission.
The plans to revitalize the tennis club include more outdoor courts and a 36,000 square-foot indoor tennis facility.
Sullivan said the Nashville Tennis Academy will likely have updated information, such as information about clinics or membership, on its website later this spring.
